Project Milestones
Our milestones track how this project moves from listening to librarians to building, testing, and sharing an AI literacy curriculum designed for secondary school libraries. Through national surveys, focus groups, and online workshops, we’ll develop modular, open-access materials that can evolve with new AI advances and classroom realities.
-
August 2025–January 2026
Phase 1 (Year 1)
Conduct a national needs assessment to identify secondary school librarians’ and students’ AI literacy needs, knowledge, and challenges. Use findings to define curriculum priorities and focus areas.
-
February 2026–July 2026
Phase 2 (Year 1)
Host online participatory design workshops with secondary school librarians representing diverse U.S. regions. Identify key topics and effective strategies for integrating AI literacy into school library programs.
-
August 2026–December 2026
Phase 3 (Year 2)
Develop a curriculum prototype and supporting training materials informed by Year 1 findings and consultant guidance. Gather advisory board feedback to strengthen content, design, and alignment with librarian needs.
-
January 2027–July 2027
Phase 4 (Year 2)
Pilot the curriculum through multi-hour online workshops with participating librarians. Collect feedback, observations, and participant work products to evaluate usability and learning outcomes.
-
August 2027–December 2027
Phase 5 (Year 3)
Analyze pilot data and refine the curriculum for broad release. Translate final materials into Spanish and complete a bilingual accuracy review to support equitable access.
-
January 2028–July 2028
Phase 6 (Year 3)
Publish the finalized curriculum and resources in a free, open-access online format with downloadable versions. Share materials and findings through professional networks, webinars, conferences, and publications to support adoption.
